Difference between Visual Arts & Performing Arts – 

Performing Arts is a form of art where artists use their voices, and bodies to convey a message or artistic expression.  It is different from Visual Arts, in which an artist use paint, canvas and various materials to create art objects.

Visual Arts gives a way to express feeling, emotion, opinion, or taste through visual means, for instance, photography, painting, sculpting, and drawing. Visual Arts are primarily created for Aesthetic Purposes, and judged for its beauty and meaningfulness. People in this field are termed: Artists.

Performing Arts
have ways to express an opinion, emotion, feeling, or taste, through means of performance, like theater, public speech, dance, music, and more. Performing Arts are arts or skills that require a performance in front of a public audience.  People in this field are termed: Performers.

At Wheaton, there is a continuous endeavor on the part of the Music teachers to involve more and more students. Students are permitted to opt for Music or Dance depending upon their aptitude and inclination.

The activity of music is taught in the forms of Vocal and instrumental music and the playing of percussion instruments like the drums, Congo etc. Piano/Keyboard, synthesizer, electric guitar are the musical instruments in which students are trained. Musical programs, orchestra are an integral part of the Annual Winter Concert.

Dance is an expression of one’s innermost feelings. Keeping in mind, the trend and interests of the modern youth and carrying on the Indian tradition, both Classical and Western forms of dance are taught. Dance teachers who are proficient in the respective dance forms instill a sense of grace, rhythm, and beauty in the dancers.

With a well-chalked out syllabus lessons in both Music and Dance are imparted.
